Dr. Wendy Walsh’s Answer:
Dear Candice,
Exactly what an accountable young woman you happen to be. Congratulations on being therefore economically smart.
My personal first reaction is to warn you never to cohabitate because of this man. Couples who live with each other have lower prices of matrimony and in case they are doing get married, they have greater divorce or separation rates.
But to your own real question. How do you persuade him to “get his crap together?”
Honey, we can’t actually make some body modification. That modification has got to originate from inside them.
But we CAN facilitate someone to preserve their particular terrible behaviors. If you find yourself paying for circumstances and silently consenting to his bad cash administration, then you’re making it possible for him.
Now initial, know this: People seldom reply to nagging.
Therefore, the sole thing he’ll answer is conduct. Think about what can be done to send a message you are ready to go onward without him if need be.
I must say, though, differing money types apart, the phrase in your mail that struck myself the most is actually “or he is doing things I’m not sure pertaining to.”
Exactly what could this end up being? And exactly why is it possible you perhaps not know about it?
Do not comingle finances with somebody who helps to keep money ways. You’ll probably be inheriting their debt.
